01
Product context

Product Description

3300/30 provides six independent channels of continuous temperature monitoring for grounded or non-grounded thermocouples. Each installed monitor is configured for the supported thermocouple types and ranges required by the machine temperature points.

3300/30 is the thermocouple member of the 3300 six-channel temperature family and should not be confused with the 3300/35 RTD monitor. Sensor type, extension wire, polarity, full-scale range, recorder arrangement and alarm settings all affect whether an existing loop can be retained.

02
Fast recognition

Three Selection-Relevant Features

Six temperature channels

One rack position accepts as many as six independent thermocouple inputs.

Multiple thermocouple types

Documented programming supports Type J, K, T and E inputs.

Grounded or isolated tips

The monitor accepts grounded or non-grounded tip thermocouple signals when wired to the correct input module.

ENGINEERING CHECKPOINT

Thermocouple type and polarity must match the configured channel

A mismatched alloy, reversed polarity or incorrect range can produce a believable but wrong temperature. Confirm the sensor and extension-wire type at both ends before adjusting alarms or replacing the monitor.

Model-specific guidance

Technical Notes

Configuration & Programming

Match each point’s thermocouple type, engineering range and alarm behavior; preserve the existing data map when a monitor is replaced or moved.

Diagnostics & Signal Integrity

Use channel status together with a polarity and continuity check to distinguish an open thermocouple, wrong alloy, reversed lead or configuration error.

Questions from real maintenance and purchasing tasks

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1

Can the existing thermocouples stay connected when 3300/30 is replaced?

Yes only when every channel uses a supported J, K, T or E thermocouple and the replacement is configured for the same type and range. Record channel assignments and polarity before disconnecting the old module.

Q2

Why can one temperature channel read in the wrong direction after 3300/30 is installed?

Reversed thermocouple polarity or the wrong extension-wire alloy is the first check. Compare the field lead colors and configured type, then test the loop with a known source before changing the alarm range.

Q3

Can 3300/30 replace a 3300/35 without changing the field loops?

No direct substitution should be assumed: the 3300/30 accepts thermocouples, while the 3300/35 is for RTDs. Identify the installed sensors and rear input hardware before selecting a replacement.

Q4

Why might rack communication show missing values after 3300/30 is moved to another slot?

Six-channel temperature monitors occupy a different amount of rack data space than two-channel modules. Update the slot/data map and confirm compatible firmware before investigating the thermocouples.

Q5

What should commissioning personnel test before enabling alarms on 3300/30?

Inject or apply a known temperature signal to each channel, verify type, polarity, displayed value, recorder output and Alert/Danger action. Keep the channel bypassed until the full loop responds correctly.

Q6

What details should procurement provide for the correct 3300/30?

Send the full catalog code, six channel sensor types and ranges, recorder and relay requirements, approval option, rack generation and clear labels from the front and rear modules.

Official-source basis: Bently Nevada 3300/30 and 3300/35 Six-Channel Temperature Monitors Specifications and Ordering Information, document 141503-01 Rev. H. Configuration-dependent facts require the complete suffix or installed nameplate before final compatibility is accepted.
