172103-01 is the manufacturer-listed RTD/isolated-tip thermocouple I/O module with internal terminations for the Bently Nevada 3500/65 16-Channel Temperature Monitor. It connects sixteen temperature channels directly at the rear of the rack for the sensor types configured in 3500 Rack Configuration Software.
172103-01 is specifically the internal-termination version, so it does not use the external termination blocks assigned to other 3500/65 configurations. Revision and firmware checks are especially important when a newer rear I/O module replaces an older installed revision.
Sixteen temperature channelsSupports sixteen configured RTD or isolated-tip thermocouple inputs through the associated 3500/65 monitor. |
Internal terminationsLands the supported field sensors directly at the rear I/O module rather than at an external block. |
Revision-aware replacementNewer rear-I/O revisions may require a front-monitor firmware update before normal operation. |
When Rev. F or later replaces an older rear I/O, the manufacturer directs users to update the associated monitor firmware and remove the I/O module during that update. Otherwise the rack can report a mismatch and 562 ADC Failure. Record both revisions before replacement.

Commercial packing weight and packed dimensions remain in the page logistics fields unless the manufacturer publishes model-specific packing data.
Installation & IntegrationUse internal field terminations only, and map every RTD or isolated-tip thermocouple to the documented channel terminals. Four-wire RTD use requires the manufacturer-defined modification. |
Firmware & DiagnosticsIf a newer I/O revision produces a mismatch or 562 ADC Failure event, compare the rear-board revision and monitor firmware first. Do not repeatedly reseat live hardware; follow the documented firmware-update procedure with the I/O removed. |
Revision-aware replacement request: Send photographs of the front monitor and rear I/O labels, both hardware revisions, monitor firmware, configured sensor types and existing terminal wiring.
No. This model is the internal-termination RTD/isolated-tip thermocouple I/O. Stop the retrofit and select the correct rear architecture if the field wiring is designed for an external termination block.
No. The specified thermocouple input is for isolated-tip sensors. Confirm the sensor construction before wiring and use the manufacturer-supported I/O arrangement instead of defeating the required isolation.
The manufacturer identifies modification 179952-01 for four-wire RTD use. Confirm that modification, the configured channel sensor type and the internal-terminal drawing before landing the four conductors.
A newer rear-I/O revision can require updated front-monitor firmware. Compare both revisions, remove the I/O module as directed during the firmware update, then reinstall and verify the event list before returning the channels to service.
Start with the channel-by-channel RTD or isolated-tip thermocouple configuration, then compare every conductor with the internal-terminal drawing. If multiple channels fail together, also check the rear-I/O revision and monitor firmware before disturbing the sensors.
Collect the front-monitor and rear-I/O nameplates, hardware revisions, monitor firmware, sensor types, termination method and clear terminal photographs so the spare matches both the rack and the installed field wiring.
Product identity and technical statements were checked against 3500/65 16-Channel Temperature Monitor Datasheet, document 172930 Rev. P. Verify the complete installed nameplate, revision, companion components and project drawing before commissioning.
