Rockwell Automation acquires autonomous robotics company Clearpath

Milwaukee, USA -- Rockwell Automation, the world's largest company dedicated to industrial automation and digital transformation, announced on September 5 that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a leader in autonomous robotics technology for industrial applications headquartered in Ontario, Canada. Enterprise Clearpath Robotics Inc. Autonomous mobile robots (AMR) are the next frontier in industrial automation and transformation, and this acquisition will further enhance Rockwell's leadership in enabling the "Connected Enterprise."

Founded in 2009, Clearpath initially provided robotics technology to the global R&D market and established its OTTO Motors division in 2015.

The acquisition will be funded by a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Rockwell's investment in PTC. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the first quarter of fiscal 2024. Upon completion of the acquisition, Clearpath will be part of Rockwell's Smart Devices operations.
